There’s something magical about summer entertaining. The longer days, golden light, and ease of the season always inspire me to open up our home and create beautiful, relaxed gatherings for friends and family.

Whether it’s a casual dinner on the patio, cocktails at golden hour, or an afternoon garden party, I love how summer invites us to slow down and savor the moment. The atmosphere is a little more laid-back, the food a little lighter, and the laughter a little louder.
One of my favorite things about hosting this time of year is how effortless it can feel. You don’t need a formal setting or a five-course meal—just good company, beautiful surroundings, and thoughtful little touches that make your guests feel special. I find so much joy in creating those moments.

Fresh flowers from the garden. A signature drink with seasonal fruit. A playlist that sets the tone. These are the details that elevate a gathering and make it memorable.
If you’re planning a summer gathering—big or small—here are a few of my favorite tips to keep things beautiful and easy:
1. Keep the Menu Simple
Focus on fresh, seasonal ingredients. I love a big summer salad, grilled veggies, or a charcuterie board layered with fruit and herbs from the garden. Think colorful, unfussy, and full of flavor.
2. Set a Mood Moment
Whether it’s twinkle lights strung through the trees, candles flickering on the table, or a floral arrangement you clipped from the yard, creating a mood moment sets the tone. Even one special element can make the entire gathering feel intentional.
3. Offer a Signature Drink
Make a beautiful batch cocktail (I love something citrusy or with fresh berries) and serve it in a pretty glass pitcher. It’s such an easy way to make guests feel welcomed the moment they arrive.
4. Embrace the Outdoors
Even if it’s just your backyard or balcony, summer is all about taking the celebration outside. I always keep a few throw pillows and blankets nearby so guests can get cozy as the sun goes down.
5. Prep Ahead
The more you can prep in advance, the more time you’ll have to be present. I try to have the table set, drinks chilled, and food prepped before guests arrive—so I can truly enjoy the time with them.
At the end of the day, entertaining isn’t about perfection. It’s about connection. That’s what I love most—creating moments where people feel at home, at ease, and totally themselves.

Here’s to making the most of the season—gathering under the sun and stars, surrounded by the people you love.
