Christmas Mantel: How to Style your Mantel for the Holidays

filed in

The holidays are here, which means it’s time to decorate! Read along as I take you step-by-step through how to style your holiday mantel for Christmas. The holiday season is my favorite, and I hope you are inspired to implement some of my decorating ideas into your own Christmas decorating this year!

This year I decided to go with a natural vibe by including dried oranges and a mix of brown, cinnamon, and cream ribbons.

Materials

I have listed + linked all of the items I used to achieve my holiday mantel below!

My stockings are from several years ago, so I have linked another one of my fave options.

For the dried oranges, I started by making quarter-inch thick slices, blotted both sides of the slices for any excess orange juice, then placed the slices on parchment paper atop a baking sheet and baked for two hours at 250 degrees.

How to Style Your Christmas Mantel

First, start by incorporating your fairy lights into your garland, then drape your garland along your mantle (make sure to create a swag on either side to allow room for your stockings). I like to swag my garland asymmetrically for an unexpected and artful arrangement. Next, fashion your brown ribbon into a large bow and add to your swag using floral wire. I always lean towards a loose bow with floppy ears and long multi-level tails.

Next, tie four mercury glass ornaments to the ends of two pieces of ribbon and arrange them at various lengths behind your large bow with floral wire. Continue by layering dried oranges tied onto chiffon ribbon on top of the mercury glass arrangement. Now, you can sprinkle additional small mercury glass ornaments and orange slices evenly along your garland. To finish the look, hang your stockings from the opening in your swag, and there you have it – a chic, timeless holiday garland!
